The Hugo Burge Foundation is a major new arts funding body. In 2025, its first full year, they distributed £400,000 of grant funding to individuals, communities and organisations across the United Kingdom.
This year, a total of £300,000 is available to support their three key strands of creative education, creative communities and creative individuals.
Creative Education – these grants support opportunities for young people (0-29) to build creative knowledge and skills. There is a total pot of £100,000 and the maximum award is £15,000. Applications for over £10,000 require 30% of the project budget to be covered by alternate funding sources. A limited number of multi-year grants (up to 3 years) are offered.
Creative Communities – these are as above but with a total fund of £150,000. They support a wide range of organisations, including festivals, charities, arts organisations, and community groups, to develop and deliver cultural or creative initiatives in their local areas.
Creative Individuals – these grants are open to individuals seeking support for the development of artistic projects or practice. A maximum of £5,000 is awarded from a total fund of £50,000.
The Foundation also has an access support fund with £7,000 available on a first-come first serve basis. This fund is for £300 for a days worth of services for applicants who might face barriers applying without assistance – including being Deaf, disabled, or neurodivergent.
A recording of an online Q&A about the funding and draft application forms are available.
The closing date for applications is 31 July 2026.
