NEW JOB: Info, Advice & Admin, Age UK Richmond – closes 11 Sep

Salary: £25,000 – 28,000 per annum FTE / 25 hours per week

Be part of a great team providing advice and support to local older people.

Age UK Richmond upon Thames is a local independent charity supporting older people across the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

They provide a wide range of useful and well utilised services designed to improve wellbeing and enhance independence – including information & advice, a wide range of social & wellbeing centres and sessions, support after hospital discharge, digital skills development, Dementia Friendly Richmond, and home services such as handyperson, housekeeping and gardening.

Partnership is a core part of their work. They work close collaboration with other voluntary sector partners and wider organisations to maximise their impact and reach. Their friendly and committed team of 45 staff and 100+ volunteers support around 4,000 local older people each year.

Information and Advice service is a central part of their organisation. Their small team of staff supported by excellent volunteers provide free and confidential information and advice to older people across the borough on a range of topics. The main area of support is to claim welfare benefits and other forms of financial support – but also includes a range of other topics such as accessing care and support, independent living, sorting out paperwork, and housing.

They currently have an excellent opportunity for an Information and Advice Officer / Administrator to join the team. This key role will include:

  • Handling phone calls and emails coming into the service, ensuring a holistic and responsive approach to dealing with enquiries.
  • Completing a range of administration to support the team.
  • Giving information and supporting clients with benefit form filling.
  • Developing an excellent understanding of the benefit system, the services available to older people and other voluntary groups to give the best possible support.

They are looking for an individual with excellent administration, IT and communication skills with a real will to work with older people.

A proactive, flexible and positive approach is also essential, with a keen interest in improving the lives of older people at a local level and a willingness to learn.

Experience of working in an information and advice or adult social care role would be highly useful.

The part-time hours for the post are ideally to be worked between 9am to 2pm or 10am to 3pm, across Monday to Friday. A four day working pattern will also be considered.

The closing date for applications is 10am on Wednesday 11 September 2024.
