Small grants are available from Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) for registered charities in the UK providing urgent support or relief to those experiencing financial hardship to enable them to address immediate needs.
The funding of up to £2,500 supports a wide range of themes. These include (but are not limited to):
- Debt advice or finance support
- Food/energy/baby banks providing essential supplies
- Support for rough sleepers and individuals without a secure home
- Crisis support for survivors of abuse.
- Community centres based in areas of high deprivation.
The unrestricted grants can be used for project or core costs.
Support is given to initiatives that benefit vulnerable groups which include children, the seriously ill, the elderly, the homeless, and people with disabilities.
Funding can be used for projects or items that make a positive difference, such as sensory toys for children with special needs, social activities for the elderly, or staff training for programme delivery.
Priority will be given to organisations with an annual income under £100,000 and those supporting marginalised communities.
The nomination must be made by a member of YBS (someone who banks with, or has a financial product with YBS) or a staff member.
There are four application deadlines each year:
