After a five year absence, the organisers of the London Marathon have reopened their charity ballot for places at the 2025 race.
UK registered charities are invited to apply for one of 500 places to be allocated by ballot for next year’s event.
London Marathon Events (LME) will randomly select the charities, who will be advised by 9 August and need to pay a fee of £400 plus VAT to secure their place.
The last charity ballot took place in 2020 but, as the event was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic, places were redistributed in the following years.
The 2025 event will take place on 27 April and will be the 45th year for the world’s biggest annual one-day fundraising event. The day after the 2024 event, it was reported that a new world record of £67m had been raised. The average amount raised through a charity place in the TCS London Marathon is more than £2,600.
The closing date to apply is 4pm on Thursday 1 August.
