JOB: Qualified Conductor/Teacher/Therapist, Small Steps

Salary dependent on skills and experience / 37.5 hours per week, term time only plus 3 weeks (42 weeks per year)

Small Steps SfP is a charity in Richmond which provides support for babies and young children with physical disabilities affecting their movement and posture. 

The organisation supports them in all areas of their development, using the principles of Conductive Education (CE). 

Parents/carers are supported too, learning skills they can continue to use at home, thus extending the benefits. 

They are looking for an enthusiastic, qualified practitioner to join them as soon as possible, to join a friendly, multi-disciplinary team that includes experienced conductor teachers and paediatric physiotherapists.

The successful candidate will be required to plan, lead and deliver sessions in their parent and child groups.

You will be an energetic, flexible practitioner with an holistic outlook and an open mind and able to fully commit to the Small Steps ethos of ‘putting families first’. You must be able to work flexibly and be sensitive to the needs of families with very young disabled children.   

Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is good oral and written English.  Evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and experience of working with young children with physical disabilities will be required. Small Steps may be able to sponsor applicants currently working outside of the UK.

The successful candidate should have knowledge and/or experience of CE, although training will be given.

Interview dates will be confirmed after shortlisting and may be a combination of in-person interviews and/or video calls. 

Shortlisted candidates will also be invited to lead a short part of a session as part of the recruitment process.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, references and 6-month probationary period.
