JOB: Project Assistant (Sessional Staff), Richmond Mencap – apply by 30 March 2026

Richmond Mencap is looking for friendly, engaging people to join their supportive team to help make a real difference in the lives of adults and children with learning disabilities. This is a hands-on, rewarding role where your main purpose will be to ensure that participants have a great experience taking part in creative, enjoyable and inclusive activities.

As a Project Assistant, you’ll support a range of sessions, including arts and crafts, music, drama, cooking classes, social groups, health and wellbeing activities, and community outings. You’ll encourage participation and help participants make choices, as well as promote independence, confidence and social inclusion.

The key responsibilities involve:

  • supporting the Project Leader with facilitating engaging, safe and inclusive activities
  • supporting participants on trips, outings and social events
  • providing person-centred support tailored to individual needs
  • following health, safety and safeguarding procedures

The ideal candidates should be friendly, approachable and able to build rapport with participants. A positive attitude, patience, empathy and enthusiasm are essential. You should be able to work as part of a team and adapt to individual needs. Experience with learning disabilities is a bonus but not essential.

An Enhanced DBS check is required, which will be arranged by Richmond Mencap.
