FUNDING: Wise Music Foundation – next deadline 28 Feb

The Wise Music Foundation provides small grants for people experiencing hardship, distress and illness, with a focus on children, the homeless and people living in poverty.

It was originally established in 1990 as The Music Sales Charitable Trust and has always aimed to help a broad range of domestic and international charitable causes, not necessarily music-related ones.

Support has been given to a wide range of causes, including education, cultural activities, arts and heritage, health and disability support, overseas famine relief, food banks, and other charitable initiatives.

Grants typically range from £500 to £5,000, with an average donation of £1,500, usually to smaller charities with an annual turnover of up to £500,000.

The trustees meet on a quarterly basis, usually in the third month of each quarter, to consider applications.  The current timetable of application deadlines is:

  • End of February – for review in March
  • End of May – for review in June
  • End of August – for review in September
  • End of November – for review in December.

All applications must be submitted through the website to be considered for support.

Donations are not made to the same charity more than once in a calendar year.
