Grants of up to £20,000 are available for the repair and conservation of free-standing war memorials in England.

The War Memorials Trust is offering grants to help those who are responsible for the upkeep of war memorials. Their grants support the care and preservation of war memorials to a high standard, and the prevention of their decay.

Grants will typically be for up to a maximum of 50% of eligible costs. Priority is given to those memorials in greatest need and the charity will be able to deal with enquiries more quickly if the memorial has an up-to-date condition provided and photographs on War Memorials Online.

All applications begin with a simple Grants Pre-application form which provides the initial information needed to assess if a project can be considered.

The 2026/27 deadlines to submit full applications are currently scheduled for:

• 28 February 2026 – decision by 30 April 2026
• 30 June 2026 – decision by 31 August 2026
• 31 October 2026 – decision by early January 2027.
