The Hobson Charity was founded in 1985 and is currently focusing on supporting applications related to urgent Cost of Living and frontline services.
The charity’s objectives are:
- the relief of poverty, suffering and distress of those in need in the United Kingdom, including the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure in the interests of their social welfare
- the advancement of education amongst the inhabitants of the United Kingdom
- the furtherance of other charitable purposes beneficial to such communities of the United Kingdom as the charity may think fit
- to make grants to such associations, trusts, societies or corporations established for charitable purposes.
They do not support salary, people or core running costs and do not offer repeat or multi-year requests unless there are are very exceptional circumstances.
Project leaders are expected to be actively raising funds elsewhere. There is no set limit for the grant request. You must ask for a specific amount.
The trustees will be interested in who else is supporting the project, the amounts raised and if there are any application requests outstanding or in the pipeline.
