FUNDING: Rewilding Innovation Fund – apply by 29 Feb

Grants are available for locally-led land and marine rewilding projects in England, Scotland and Wales for organisations that are part of the Rewilding Network.

The Rewilding Innovation Fund will support up to ten innovative projects with grants of up to £15,000. It seeks to create new opportunities for large-scale nature restoration through community engagement, business plans for enterprises such as ecotourism that generate income for the local economy, feasibility studies, or using new technology in rewilding.

Applicants must be members of the Rewilding Network, which could include community, private and public landowners and managers of rewilding areas on the land and sea. You must also be rewilding at scale – more than 40 hectares of land (or any size of marine project). This can be an individual landholding or a cluster of landholdings.

Successful applications have previously included a seagrass restoration study, a carbon capture project and a tree seeding experiment.

There will be two regular funding rounds each year and an annual Rewilding Challenge Fund to provide a larger amount of funding to one successful project.

Funding applications open twice a year, at the start of the year and the summer. The current round is open until 29 February 2024.
