FUNDING: Ragdoll Foundation Open Grants – next deadlines

The Ragdoll Foundation’s Small and Main grants support arts, cultural and youth-focused organisations working with children and young people through the arts, artists and creative media.

Their vision is to support high quality, innovative arts engagement projects where the concerns of childhood can be heard.

Small Grants – Innovative, arts-based small projects, pilots, or research & development to inform a new project or programme of work. Applications for up to £1,500 can be made and there are five deadlines per year. The next deadlines are:

  • 29 October 2021 (decision 26 November)
  • 7 January 2022 (decision 4 February)

Main Grants – Larger or longer term new projects, or proposals that significantly develop the scope or scale of an existing programme, project or pilot. The majority of Main Grants awarded are in the region of £5k to £20k, however applications of up to £50k for multi-year projects can be accepted from organisations with appropriate experience.

The Programme operates a two-stage application process, with a rolling deadline. Stage one applications are considered in the order they are received. You can therefore submit your application at any time.

Trustees consider stage two applications at three meetings each year, in February, June and October. Depending on when your application is received it can take between four and seven months from submitting a stage one application to being considered by the trustees at stage two.

In general:

  • Stage one applications submitted between December and March should be for
projects where delivery begins no earlier than September of the same year (June
    decision).
  • Stage one applications submitted between April and July should be for projects
where delivery begins no earlier than January of the following year (October
    decision).
  • Stage one applications submitted between August and November should be for
projects where delivery begins no earlier than April of the following year (February
    decision).
