FUNDING: National Garden Scheme Community Garden Grants – opens 17 Oct 2022

Small grant funding is available to support the creation of a garden, or a similar project such as an allotment, with a horticultural focus for the benefit of the local community.

In 2022, a total of 75 grants have been awarded and the total amount donated since the scheme began in 2011 is almost £400,000.

Projects should bring people together and encourage sharing of gardening skills and knowledge.

Community groups (established with their own bank account) can apply for £500 to £5,000 to cover expenses such as:

• Site preparation (including hire of small mechanical tools such as rotavators)
• Hand tools
• Plants
• Trees
• Shrubs
• Containers
• Seating

The Scheme opens for applications on 17 October 2022.

The closing date for applications is midday on 31 January 2023.
