A new £13.6 million funding programme has been announced to help museums across England strengthen their financial resilience and long-term sustainability.
The Museum Transformation Programme will support local authority museums, and museums with a local authority link, to address long-term pressures and develop more sustainable operating models.
The funding will support longer-term activity, enabling museums to rethink their operations in a range of ways, including digital transformation, organisational development and restructuring, income diversification, and partnership working.
Museums can apply for grants of between £50,000 and £1 million.
The programme is delivered by Arts Council England on behalf of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
The application period will open on 1 September 2026 and close on 30 September 2026.
