FUNDING: Local Household Support Fund

A new allocation of Household Support funding has been made available for July to September 2022 to distribute to low income households who are struggling in the current cost of living crisis.

Application can be made to Richmond AID and Citizens Advice Richmond (CAR) for grants to local families and individuals who need help and support with accessing food, energy bills or other household essentials. This includes working households on a low income.

Richmond AID’s service is specifically for people with long term health conditions, disabilities and carers.

The grants can be for, for example, food, energy costs, clothing or essential equipment and are paid by either a BACS payment into a bank account or with supermarket vouchers.

The grant amount varies according to household size:

  • up to £300 for households with 1 or more adults
  • up to £500 for households with 1 child
  • up to £600 for households and 2 children or more

Applicants must be aged over 18 and live in the borough of Richmond and be struggling from the impact of rising costs of food and energy or continue to be impacted by Covid. Some examples of eligible situations are:

  • reduced pay or lost job
  • benefits issues
  • struggling to afford food, energy costs and other essentials, including white goods
  • extra costs as a result of Covid

Individuals with no recourse to public funds are also eligible, particularly if there are community care needs, serious health problems or risk to a child’s wellbeing.
