FUNDING: Grants for Good, Matthew Good Fdn – apply by 15 Mar

This Foundation gives to causes that are close to the hearts of John Good Group employees.

The John Good Group of Companies is an 185 year old family business that specialises in shipping and travel. The Foundation was established in memory of Matthew Good who died in 2011 whilst running a marathon for charity. It offers small grants for projects that have a positive impact on communities, people or the environment.

As well as established projects and charities, the Foundation wants to hear from people with innovative ideas that need funding to get their projects up and running.

Every three months, £15,000 is shared between five shortlisted charities that employees vote to support. The amount awarded to each one depends on the number of votes received. The more votes a cause receives, the bigger the donation. Following the vote, the project that receives the most votes will receive a grant of £5,000, £3,500 for second place, £2,500 for third place, and £2,000 being given to fourth and fifth places.

Applications are welcome from charities, community projects and social enterprises with an annual income of less than £50,000.

You can apply at anytime but awards are made every three months:

  • 15 March – for funding awarded in May
  • 15 June – for funding awarded in August
  • 15 September – for funding awarded in November
  • 15 December – for funding awarded in February
