The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust funds UK Registered Charities, operating in the UK, in the fields of the advancement of the arts, health and medical welfare and environmental protection or improvement.
Grants of up to £8,000 are available and are usually single grants over a one-year period. Occasionally longer-term grants of up to 3 years are agreed by the Trustees.
The Trust’s 2026-2029 strategy has three themes of:
- participation in the performing arts – supporting community music-making, performing arts engagement and early-stage career development
- creative health interventions – non-clinical interventions that improve physical, emotional and mental health
- heritage crafts and skills – protecting rare craft skills and linking traditional skills to training and employment.
Their focus is on projects that increase access for communities that face barriers to opportunity.
There are three rounds of funding a year in March, July and November.
The application process begins with an eligibility quiz which will direct applicants to either a Small Charity form (annual income of up to £5m) or a Large Charity form (annual income above £5m).
Eligible Large Charities will be asked to complete the first-stage application by the 8 May 2026.
Small Charity applicants and second-stage Large Charity applicants must complete by 23:59 on 1 June 2026.
Late applications will be rolled over to the next meeting.
