This charitable trust donates funds to UK registered organisations and charities primarily involved in the prevention or relief of poverty, the advancement of education, the advancement of health or the saving of lives and the advancement of the arts, culture, heritage, or science.
Typically, the trustees make grants or donations of up to £30,000 to a number of organisations each year. In exceptional circumstances the trustees have the discretion to award larger or multi-year grants.

Their secondary charitable purposes are the advancement of citizenship or community development, amateur sport, environmental protection or improvement and the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage.
Applications are accepted at any time but are reviewed quarterly. The quarterly cut-off dates are 30 March, 30 June, 30 September and 31 December each year.
