This Fund supports work which enables pupils in formal education settings, particularly those experiencing systemic inequality or disadvantage, to thrive through engagement with high quality, arts-based learning.
Not for profit organisations and charities that are working with schools, colleges and other formal education settings can apply for grants of between £30,000 and £300,000 to enhance the lives, development and achievements of children and young people through high quality arts-based learning activities.
The Foundation’s definition of arts-based learning is learning experiences which incorporate arts-based content, and/or use arts-based approaches to secure access to or enhance engagement with the curriculum.
The Fund looks to support:
- Arts and cultural organisations working in partnership with formal education settings (including state-funded primary and secondary schools, SEND specialist schools, Further Education colleges, alternative provision settings such as Pupil Referral Units, and some types of state-funded Early Years settings)
- Arts organisations can be charities, community organisations, social enterprises and not-for-profit companies active in the arts and culture sector
- Applications from organisations led by people most impacted by oppression, including racism, ableism, classism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, and/or transphobia
- Organisations that are developing established programmes of work and/or testing new approaches
The application process is a two-step process and the Foundation can provide pre-application Access Support and a bursaries of up to £750 to help with applications.
