Funding is available to support activities this October to help get older residents active in their communities.
Richmond-based groups and organisations are invited to apply for up to £250 of funding to support events and activities throughout the month of October that help our older residents to live more physically active, healthy and independent lives.
In its fourth year, the Full of Life Fund programme from Richmond Council sits alongside the annual Full of Life Fair (27 Sep 2024) and Silver Sunday/National Day of Older People (6 Oct 2024).
Through an exciting programme of events across our communities, they want to celebrate our older residents and support their health and wellbeing by connecting them with the great opportunities in their local area.
You may decide to do something bespoke, or use the funds to support relevant activities you already have planned, to increase in size and allow more people to attend.
Activities and events will need to take place between 1 October and 31 October 2024. Some ideas include:
• ‘taster’ sessions of activities your organisation typically offers
• active classes, such as yoga or dance classes with trained instructors
• an event designed especially for adults with sight or hearing impairment
• dementia-friendly activities for residents living with and caring for a loved one with dementia
• hosting a healthy cook-along and encouraging good food and nutrition
• group walks around local parks and nature trails
• trips to local attractions, museums, theatres, or art galleries
• expert-led workshops on how to safely maintain physical health, even with limited mobility.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 4 August at 11.59pm.
