Community Fund Round 4 – opens 12 October 2020
The next application window for the local Community Fund opens on 12 October, until 4 December 2020. The Fund will be used to deliver community benefit projects which address demands that new development has placed on an area. The fund is allocated between the East (£161,000) and West (£252,000) of the borough. Applicants must live or work in the borough and require endorsement from at least two Councillors within the ward area where their project is to be delivered. Women in Innovation – apply by 14 October 2020
This is a competition for ten awards of £50,000 for female entrepreneurs, plus a bespoke package of mentoring, coaching and business support. The aim is to find women with exciting, innovative ideas and ambitious plans to inspire others. Applicants must be confident that they can make a significant contribution to a pressing societal, environmental and/or economic challenge through their project. Read more.
The Andor Charitable Trust – apply at any time
This Trust operates a rolling programme of funding for a wide range of charitable projects, including education, arts, older people and disability. Grants made are in the range of £1,000 to £3,000. Near Neighbours Small Grants – apply at any time
Grants of up to £3,000 are available as seed funding for local groups and organisations who are working to bring together neighbours. Eligible groups must be working to develop relationships across diverse faiths and ethnicities to improve their community. Read more here.
Transport for London Walking and Cycling Grants London – apply by 15 October 2020
Grants of up to £10,000 over three years are available to organisations in Greater London for projects that engage communities in safe, enjoyable and inclusive walking and cycling activities. Projects should encourage people to walk and/or cycle more often and more safely or focus on connecting with a diverse range of communities which are currently detached from walking or cycling. Thriving Communities Hounslow Response Fund - Round 2 closes 2 November 2020
This fund is aimed at supporting charities who are delivering services that support Hounslow residents. If you can demonstrate that your service caters for these residents, because there is nothing similar in borough, they will consider your application. The key areas they are particularly interested in funding are digital Inclusion, support for the unemployed, mental health, young people and sustainable response to food poverty. Weaver’s Company Benevolent Fund – apply by 19 November 2020
Grants are available for smaller UK based charities working with young offenders, prisoners and ex-prisoners (particularly those aged under 30 years) and young disadvantaged people, especially those at risk of criminal involvementin the UK. Chapman Charitable Trust – apply by 28 February 2021
Grants of up to £2,000 are available for charities that support wellbeing, the natural environment and the arts through activities in London. Preference is given to charities which address the root causes of problems and for research projects. Grants for care and counselling are normally awarded to organisations which seek to address underlying problems. Find more details here.
City Bridge Trust Connecting Communities – rolling fund
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Trust is only accepting small grant applications for up to £10,000 at present. These are only open to organisations with an annual income of less than £100,000. Grants are for organisations that are working for the benefit of London inhabitants to make London’s communities stronger, more resilient and thriving. They aim to benefit people living in Greater London by tackling social and financial inequality and giving local people more access to facilities and more involvement in the running of their communities. Westhill’s mission is to provide financial investment and resources to support religious education projects and faith-motivated activities that enable different people to build bridges with each other and transform their lives and the life of their communities. Charles Hayward Foundation – next deadline September 2020
Grants are available to UK registered charities for projects in Heritage and Conservation, Social and Criminal Justice and Older People. There are small grants ((income under £350,000) of up to £7,000 and main grants (income over £350,000) for Social & Criminal Justice for £10,000 to £25,000 per annum. One-off Heritage & Conservations projects can apply for £20,000 and £50,000. The Foundation values projects that develop, expand and replicate a tried and tested approach as well as supporting creative solutions to problems which seem to be entrenched and elude resolution. Youth Music Network– expressions of interest by 2 October 2020
Grants are available to a range of organisations for projects that increase the number of children and young people across England who have the opportunity to take part in high-quality musical activities, particularly those who are experiencing challenging circumstances and who face barriers to music making. Fund B is currently open for application. It offers grants of £30,001 to £200,000 for projects lasting at least 18 months. Read the full details here.
Grow Back Greener – apply by 5 October 2020
Grants of 5,000 to £50,000 are available for projects across London that will make the city greener and give Londoners the chance to get involved, as well as helping adapt to climate change. Projects should take place in and enhance publicly accessible spaces including parks, community gardens, housing estates, streets, waterways and nature reserves, and they should mainly focus on making physical improvements to the space. Grants of up to £2,000 are available to artists, small organisations and galleries to enable artists and those presenting their work to undertake and complete projects when frustrated by a lack of funds. Visit the website.
CreatedBy Rugby League World Cup 2021 Capital Grants Programme - apply by 23 October 2020
Grants are available for organisations that are developing Rugby League activity to invest in facilities and equipment that create environments that are accessible, welcoming and build a legacy of the Rugby League World Cup 2021 in local communities. There are four key objectives of Engagement, - Reach, Community and Lasting. Any organisation that is developing Rugby League activity in the community can apply, including clubs, local authorities, community organisations or education establishments. See more details here.
Rowing Foundation - apply by 26 October 2020
Grants of up to £3,000, for up to 50% of overall project costs, are available to support rowing. Preference is given to encouraging participation by the young or disabled through the provision of equipment. Groups should be affiliated to British Rowing. See more here.
Masonic Charitable Foundation - apply by 31 October 2020 (large grants)
This rolling funding is currently supporting work under the themes of Children and Young People and Later Life. The large grants programme (£10,000 to £60,000) is open for applications from charities with an income of over £500k. The small grants programme grants programme (income of less than £500k) awards grants of £500 to 15,000 and will open on 1 October 2020. Read the full details.
Magic Little Grants - apply by 31 October 2020
Small grants of £500 are available for community projects that support and inspire people to participate in sports or exercise, with the primary aim of improving the physical health of participants. Apply here.
Linnean Society 'Our Local Nature' Grants - apply by 1 November 2020
Small grants of up to £1,000 are available for schools and community groups to increase youth engagement with nature. The application period opens on 1 September 2020. See more information and the full details here.
Naturesave Trust - apply at any time
Grants of between £500 and £5,000 are available to environmental and conservation groups for projects that deal with specific environmental and/or conservation issues, or community renewable energy projects. The Trust’s principle areas of funding are environmental and conservation projects, social enterprise projects and community renewable energy grants. See more information here.
RYA Foundation - apply at any time
Grants are available for sailing clubs to promote participation in boating by those who are disadvantaged by reason of youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances. Applications are accepted from RYA-affiliated sailing clubs and centres, and other organisations in the UK that are seeking to develop their facilities for disadvantaged people. Read more here.
Oak Trust – apply at any time
The Oak Trust supports the areas of disadvantaged people, medical and environmental charities. Small grants are awarded of up to £4,000 with preference given to organisations with a turnover of less than £1million. Applications are considered twice a year. See more here.
Woodroffe Benton Foundation – apply at any time
One-off small grants of up to £2,500 are available to UK registered charities with an an annual income of less than £1million. The grants focus on the priorities of relief of hardship, care for the elderly, environment and conservation. Find out more here.
Golsoncott Foundation – apply by 31 July 2020
Small grants are available to voluntary sector organisations in the UK for projects that promote fine arts and music. The foundation’s objective is “to promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of the public in the arts generally, and in particular, the fine arts and music.” Grants are usually in the ranges of £250 to £3,000. Woodward Trust – funding round closes 31 July 2020
This trust will consider applications for core costs which will achieve a positive impact in a range of areas including arts outreach, children and young people, disability projects, disadvantaged women and families, prisoners and ex-offenders and projects that promote integration and community cohesion particularly amongst minority groups, refugees and traveller communities. Cockayne Grants for the Arts – funding round closes 31 July 2020
Grants are available to registered charities for arts projects in London that provide opportunities to artists from diverse cultures for the creation, development, performance, or exhibition of the performing arts (music, opera, dance, theatre) and literary or visual arts. Average grants range from £1,000 to £25,000 and can cover up to 20% of a project’s total cost. Find out more here.
Places of Worship Protective Security Funding Scheme – apply by 9 August 2020
This is a government commitment in the 2016-2020 Hate Crime Action Plan. It provides funding for protective security measures to places of worship and associated faith community centres that are vulnerable to hate crime. Eligible buildings include churches, gurdwaras, mosques, temples and associated faith community centres. Applicants can submit bids for up to 3 protective security measures. Applicants are required to contribute 20% of the total cost of the security measures. The maximum government funding available to any place of worship or associated faith community centre is £56,000. Souter Charitable Trust – apply by 21 August 2020
Small grants are awarded for the relief of human suffering in the UK or overseas, particularly those with a Christian ethos. Average grant awards are £1,000 to £3,000. Visit www.soutercharitabletrust.org.uk.
Michael Tippett Foundation – apply by 30 September 2020
Small grants in the range of £500 to £4,000 are available for the development of group music making in the UK, especially involving young people, with composing central to the project. Find more information at www.tippettfoundation.org.uk.
Garfield Weston Foundation
Grants are available to charitable organisations in the UK for a wide range of projects in the areas of welfare, youth, community, arts, faith, environment, education, health, and museums and heritage. There are two levels of funding, which can be used towards capital, revenue or project costs. Regular grants offer up to £100,000 and Major grants are over £100,000. Hargraves Foundation
Grants are available for charities and educational institutions that support young people under 18 years old who are living with a mental health problem, physical disability or growing up in poverty, through sports and education. The funding is intended for projects that offer beneficiaries the opportunity to fulfil their potential and improve wellbeing, self-esteem and independence. Wilko Helping Hands
Helping Hands is the Wilko retail chain’s community initiative to support projects at local level within the community. The support could be gift cards, products or a volunteer team to help achieve work within your community. The scheme can, for example, help local schools, playgroups and nurseries, parent or family groups, disabled groups, youth clubs, elderly groups, luncheon clubs, community and tenants’ associations and more. Percy Bilton
Grants are made to registered charities and individuals in need in the UK. Organisations assisting disadvantaged youth, people with disabilities and older people may apply for grants towards capital expenditure. Large grants are one-off payments for capital expenditure to a maximum of about £3,000 (eg. furniture and equipment, building/refurbishment projects). Small grants are donations of up to £500 towards furnishings and equipment for small projects. Social workers may apply on the behalf of individuals who have a disability or mental health problem, or who are over 65, for grants to purchase basic furniture, equipment and clothing.
