JOB: Young People’s Project Worker, Castelnau Cte – closes 1 Nov

Salary: £13.15 per hour / 6.5 hours per week (Wednesday) term time only

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to join a small, vibrant and diverse local community centre working with children from school Year 5 upwards.

The Castelnau Community Centre Project in Barnes currently offers a free after-school club on Tuesday to Thursday each week, with sessions aimed at different age groups, plus Youth Club sessions on Wednesday and Friday evenings.

They are seeking a team member to deliver Junior and Senior Youth Club on Wednesdays.

The Junior Youth Club is for children in school Years 5 and 6, to give them an opportunity to participate in some of the activities available at the club, become accustomed to being in a self-led setting, and to get to know the Youth Team.

Senior Youth club is an open access session for young people over 10 years of age, up to 25 years for those with Special Educational Needs.

To apply, you need an interest in working with children and young people, and to be friendly and approachable whilst maintaining professional boundaries. You’ll be comfortable engaging and leading children and young people to participate in activities, and you’ll model positive behaviour.

Punctuality and reliability are also essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to work in accordance with equality and diversity.

It’s desirable to have experience of delivering, leading or facilitating activities for children and young people, and to have related training or qualifications.

The role offers the chance to be part of a small friendly team, with access to training to develop and broaden your skills. There may also be the opportunity to share a passion or interest with young people and scope to lead, design and deliver mini-projects during sessions.

The post is initially offered as a temporary role as the Centre is coming to the end of a fixed term contract.

Sessions are term time only, between 3pm – 9.30pm with Junior Club operating 39 weeks per year, and Youth Club running 46 weeks per year. The sessions include a 30-minute unpaid break.

There may be scope for additional hours, covering holidays or sickness for the Centre’s other After School activities.

Applicants must have, or be willing to undertake, an enhanced DBS check.

The closing date for applications is Friday 1 November 2024.

Interviews will be held on Friday 11 November 2024.

Anyone interested in applying should email info@ccproject.org.uk for an application pack.
