This Trust awards grants to UK registered or exempt charities in three health-related areas of work.

Their grants support organisations whose work involves the care of blind people and the prevention and cure of blindness, those that support long term care of people with learning disabilities and the care of and services for people suffering from cancer and their families.

The size of grants awarded for all the above strands ranges from £3,000 to £30,000.

Charities which exist primarily for the care of blind and visually impaired people are most likely to succeed but the trustees will consider others (eg. those who care for people with multi-disabilities) where the projects are specifically aimed at the blind or partially-sighted element of their work.

In the Learning Disability field, charities must satisfy the Trust that they support individuals over an extremely long period of time, such as residential care or supported living schemes. The Trustees do sometimes consider charities which provide day or employment services but only when those services are very long term for the individual beneficiaries (eg. providing work until retirement). This requirement means that, for instance, schools or colleges are not eligible.

Applications for funding to support blind people and learning disabilities can be submitted at any time between November 2022 and 31 January 2023. Decisions are made in the following April and successful applicants will be notified by the end of the month.

Cancer care applications have closed for the current year.

Applications are encouraged as possible during the application period and may only be submitted in writing (not email) to the Trust’s office in East Molesey.
