Grants are awarded by this fund to support young offenders, ex-offenders and disadvantaged young people (5-30 years) at risk of offending.
Local organisations are favoured, such as those in small villages or towns with an income of less than £100,000, or those in larger cities and/or across the UK having an income of less than £250,000.
There is a small grants programme offering up to £5,000 per annum and a main grants Programme with no maximum grant limit but typical awards are generally between £10,000 and £15,000. The funding is available for both project and core costs.
Previous grant awards have included community-based projects for disadvantaged young people such as mentoring, anti-gang and drug abuse programmes, summer clubs in deprived areas, art and theatre workshops, and raising awareness of the problems of teenage pregnancy.
