FUNDING: The Boring Foundation – opens Nov 25

This informal fund was set up to help small non-profit organisations cover some of the boring costs that keep them running – essential things, like insurance, web hosting, admin time – which are always hard to find funding for. It’s part funding experiment and part making a point about the state of the funding system.

It was started as a personal fun donation thing by Christina Poulton Creative on Instagram, based on what she would genuinely do if she won the lottery, and has grown into a platform for others to donate to.

It aims to help simplify fundraising for ‘boring’ basics, for the smallest organisations and, especially, for marginalised groups. It is targeting small non-profit organisations, usually with one or two people doing everything on a shoestring budget with little fundraising support.

Core to its values is supporting people whose voices don’t get heard enough, eg. LGBTQ+, queer or trans-led organisations, those with global majority leaders, refugee and migrant communities.

All grants will be for £200 and they will know by November how many can be given out.

Applications will open in November 2025 and information will be updated at The Boring Fund Open Collective webpage and on Instagram. You can also subscribe and sign up for notifications here.

Application will be designed to be a really easy 5 minute process.
