The Ironmongers’ Company makes grants of up to £10,000 to registered charities for projects that support disadvantaged young people.
They look for projects that deliver clearly defined educational benefits to a specific group of children or young people and which meet all of the following criteria:
- for children and young people under the age of 25 who are disadvantaged
- consist of education activities that develop learning motivation and skills
- have clear aims and objectives to be met within a planned timescale
- take place in the UK.
Grants range from a few hundred pounds to a maximum of £10,000, with an average grant size of £4,000.
They are particularly interested in enabling primary age children to develop a strong foundation for the future. Projects could, for example, support special educational needs, address behavioural problems or promote citizenship, parenting or life skills.
Application is by online application form and the funding rounds for 2021 have deadlines of 31 July and 15 December.
