Small grants are awarded by the trustees of the Woodward Charitable Trust for Summer play schemes for children between the ages of 5-16 years.
Programmes must run for a minimum of 2 weeks or 10 days across the Summer holidays and can only be paid to registered charities.
Other types of organisations can work with registered charities, who can accept grants on their behalf.
Most grants are in the range of £500 to £1,000 with a total of around 35 grants made each year.
The Trust gives preference to:
- small local play schemes with a wide-ranging programme of relatively inexpensive activities.
- schemes that involve a large number of children
- schemes catering for children from disadvantaged backgrounds or who are disabled
- schemes where past users are encouraged to come back and help as volunteers.
Due to continued home working, all applications must be made using the Trust’s online form.
