FUNDING: Mayor of London’s Untold Stories Programme – apply by 12 January 2022

A new £1m fund to refresh public spaces by highlighting the achievements of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, women, LGBTQ+ communities and disabled people in the public realm.

The Mayor of London is offering community-led organisations funding and support to make a change in public spaces. It’s an opportunity to test, develop, grow and create projects which share community stories.

Application can be made for £1,000 to £25,000 and there are two strands of funding. Test and Nuture smaller grants are for new concepts and Grow and Make Happen is for larger amounts for already developed projects.

Projects must be community-led and have actively involved the community in planning, shaping and deciding on the ideas presented. They must be inclusive and offer opportunities for Londoners from all backgrounds to take part. They should also take place in or focus on public spaces – streets, parks, markets, waterways and squares – which are freely accessible and welcoming to all.

Organisations must have a turnover of less than £500,000 per annum and priority will go to organisations or groups that are majority led by Black, Asian and minority ethnic Londoners, Deaf and disabled Londoners, LGBTQ+ Londoners, women or people from a lower social economic background.

There is a programme of in person and online workshops and extra support to help with the application process beginning with an online funding workshop on 3 November which is followed by with a range of learning and knowledge sessions in November and December.

The closing date for applications is 12 January 2022 and decisions will be given by April 2022.
